Mark D. Toljanic practices in the area of general business law and income tax; representing individuals, closely-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

He counsels clients on organizational matters, such as choice of entity, organizational structure and tax related issues. He counsels ongoing businesses with respect to day-to-day matters, including employment matters, vendor and customer contracts, consulting and contractor agreements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.

He has represented both buyers and sellers of businesses in a variety of industries. Representative transactions include stock and asset deals as well as mergers and spin-offs.

Mr. Toljanic represents professionals, including physicians, accountants, dentists and veterinarians.

Mr. Toljanic represents numerous not for profit organizations and has assisted them in organizational and ongoing matters, as well as obtaining tax exempt status under the Internal Revenue Code. He has also served as the Village Prosecutor for the Village of LaGrange Park since 1993.

Mr. Toljanic received a B.S. degree with distinction from Indiana University in 1983 and a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1986. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. He has been with the firm of Martin, Craig, Chester & Sonnenschein LLP since 1988, and a Partner since 1994. He is a member of the Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations.

He is active in community affairs and was elected as a Village Trustee in the Village of Arlington Heights in April of 1999 and again in 2003. He was appointed interim Village Trustee in 2009. While on the Village Board, Mr. Toljanic chaired the Village’s Breeders Cup Task Force in 2002. Served as Vice Chair of the Village’s Downtown Master Plan Task Force and chaired the Village’s Ad Hoc Committee regarding traffic around Northwest Community Hospital. He served on the Arlington Heights Environmental Control Commission from 1996 to 1999 and the United Way of Arlington Heights Board of Directors from 1997 to 2000, where he also served as Assistant Treasurer. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arlington Heights Youth Athletic Association and as the Vice President and Director of Baseball from 1993 to 2004.

Born in Warner Robins, Georgia in 1961, he resides in Arlington Heights with his wife and children.
